Let me tell you about one of my friends, whom I shall call Sarah N.

I met Sarah when I stayed for a summer at my grandparent's home in 2004. She was in the young women's in their ward; there were only two other young women there, which was slightly amusing to me; but out of the three girls, I made friends with Sarah the quickest. She was the most like me, I suppose you could say, even though we were very different. Not opposites; just different.

Sarah was in love with Ben Affleck, if I remember correctly. She loved the Beatles (which I also liked, but to a much lesser extent), and as a result, her entire bedroom was positively covered in Ben Affleck and the Beatles parafanalia. We had a young women's campout in her yard (in a tent). It was funny because her yard was sloped, so everyone woke up squished to one side of the tent with everyone on top of everyone else.

That young women's campout was the start of a summer full of boating, swimming, sleepovers, dancing, shopping... the list goes on. It was great; but eventually, the time came for me to leave and start school. We swapped e-mail addresses, but I was a terrible correspondant; and as a result, we lost touch. I didn't stay at my grandparent's for very long the following summer--one week, if I remember correctly. I saw her at church and we certainly talked a lot there, but there wasn't time enough for us to "hang out."

I saw her once at Christmas in 2005; my family went to the coast to celebrate the holiday with my grandparents and Aunt Jan and Uncle Brian. I saw her at church, but I was terribly sick and had lost most of my voice. Also, seeing as how Christmas was on Sunday that year, it was only sacrament meeting that occurred. I didn't find her until it was over, and we only talked for a little while.

My point is this: in one summer, I made a very good friend. Due to my laziness, we lost touch--we were still good friends, but we both did a lot of changing in just two short years. Girls change a lot between the ages of fifteen-eighteen. (She was a year younger than I; I was sixteen when we met, she was fifteen.)

I am again at my grandparent's, but they have moved and attend a different ward. Sarah lives nearby, and I hope to see her. I really, really do. I want to have a friend around here to talk to, to joke with.

Sarah is now seventeen years old, in the year 2006. She's pregnant. I love her dearly.
